The 2006 vintage has produced a hallmark wine with all the classic lifted floral aromatic and flavour characteristics of our past styles. A combination of intense citrus and tropical fruit fills and nose as well as the palate, with a very refreshing balanced taste and a clean lingering finish.
Our 2006 Verdelho was grown under ideal Hunter conditions, which was a little drier and hotter than usual. The grapes were harvested at 12.7 baume, a whole week earlier that 2005.
After being hand picked, the clean grapes were cooled and pressed. Only ‘free run’ juice to 600 lit/tonne were used to make this Block 37 blend.
Following cold tank fermentation with cultured yeasts, the wine was allowed a short time on lees before stabilizing, fining filtering then bottling in June 2006.
