This wine shows a lifted, complex array of earthy undertones, spices and integrated oak. It is full bodied, has lovely fruit flavours with round soft tannins and a lingering finish.
Only 100 cases (limited release) were made of the wine chosen from the four best selected barrels from 2003. Produced from low yielding Shiraz vines from our Broke Fordwich Vineyard, 2003 vintage was an excellent dry year. This allowed us to produce this exceptional Hunter Shiraz. The vines were crop thinned at veraison to 1 1/2 tonnes to the acre and hand picked at vintage. The grapes were crushed and fermented in open vats, left on skins with gentle maceration for 9 days, then matured in new and one year old barrels for 17 months. The wine was bottled in August 2004 and allowed to bottle age for another 21 months before release.
